San Francisco

San Francisco TRAVEL WEB.jpg

Until about two weeks ago, San Francisco wasn’t even on our radar. Similar to last year, Mandy and I were planning on a taking a trip over the Christmas break. Flights were purchased and plans were made, but with a Zika concern and our little one on the way, we decided to call an audible. And so on Christmas Day, we packed our bags and headed out on one last big adventure while our household is just the two of us (and Marty of course, but he didn’t come).

Day 4

Palace of Fine Arts, Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco National Cemetery, Painted Ladies, Chinatown

This was my favorite day of the trip. We rented Uber bikes, looked like complete tourists, and had a blast seeing what San Francisco had to offer us on our last day.

Truth be told, if I would have had it my way, we would have spent our Christmas vacation in Tennessee. Luckily, Mandy convinced me that we should set our sights on the West Coast instead. I was hesitant at first, but as we began to explore the city, my hesitancies quickly gave way to the incredible weather (is there ever bad weather in CA?), its rich diversity of people, and its beautiful landscape and culture.

Our lives will be quickly changing in 2019 as we eagerly await the arrival of our baby girl! But for one last Christmas with just the two of us, I loved getting to spend it exploring a new city with my bride.

A Video Journal

Along with snapping photos of our adventure in San Francisco, I also made sure to film several moments of our stay. Check out the video journal below!

For The Nerds

When I see posts like this from other people, I’m always curious as to what equipment they’re using, etc. So below is what I used to capture the photos and videos.

Canon 5D Mark III

Lenses:
Canon 24-70mm f2.8L
Canon 70-200mm f2.8L IS (a must-have for video)

Phone:
iPhone 7+ (only used for a few shots in the video)

Software:
Lightroom Classic CC (photo editing)
Premiere Pro (video editing)

Photo Preset:
I used a custom Lightroom preset for these photos. You can download it for free below!
